Olivia Williams is a wonder in front of your lens. One moment she is doing the splits and making you laugh with joy, and the next you’re almost in tears watching her incredible display of emotions. It was a total pleasure photographing her for Hollywood Authentic’s column ‘A Little Nonsense’. See Olivia in Dune: Prophecy on HBO now. Big thanks to Jane Crowther and Greg Williams from Hollywood Authentic and Olivia Garnham from Premier comms for making the shoot happen. I shared a delightful half hour with brotherly director – actor duo Malcolm and John David Washington in the lead-up to their new film ‘The Piano Lesson”. We discussed everything from childhood talent shows to the joys of working with your family. Big thanks to the Netflix Publicity team and 2PM Sharp, and to Greg Williams and Jane Crowther for having me back on the Hollywood Authentic team. Check out Jane’s interview with Malcolm and John David here: LINK

It was a privilege to photograph Yulia Navalnaya.A calm and powerful presence, determined, emotional, always open to laughter. I hope I’ve captured something true in my portraits of her. Massive thanks to Lara Huck, Alice Bota and Michael Thumann.

Back in the days when the weather was substantially nicer I spent time at Diddly Squat Farm photographing the team – cow herding with Kaleb, field walking with Lisa, chatting with Charlie, and (trying to) chat with Gerald. Plus of course capturing Jeremy too, whilst he told me about his cows. Thanks to Lisa for encouraging Jeremy to do this American Gothic recreation, to Russ O’Connell for the great idea, Grant Wood for his brilliant painting, and to my assistant Phil for saving my canvas background from falling in too much mud. The Minister for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, photographed for the cover of The Sunday Times Magazine. We had just 10 minute with the Minister, and I found out about the shoot the evening before. But a great team and a good plan go a long way. Big thanks to Russ O’Connell for the commission, to Dan Biddulph for the cover design and the colourful inside spread, and finally to Oliver Mayhall and Olivia Spencer for their great assisting.
This was a fun shoot! Louis got totally involved from the off. The kick photo was basically our first frame, and it just got better from there. Collaborating with brilliant people is one of the things I love most about my job, and this shoot was exactly that. Thanks so much for the fun Louis! Massive thanks to Russ O’Connell for the awesome commission, Dan Biddulph for the great layout, to Emma Leon for grooming, to Rami Hassen for assisting, and Melissa Morgan for the retouch.
In the UK if you’re a public figure the media tends to show you in a single way, a full bodied persona boiled down to a single dimension. And as a fun and humorous politician (quite the unusual thing) Ed Miliband was only ever portrayed as a joker when he was leader of the Labour Party. However, when I met Ed it became instantly clear that there is also a serious and thoughtful side to the man. He’s happy to laugh and play jokes on himself, and he’s just as happy to dive deep into a philosophical discussion about changing the world. His interview with Jude Rogers is fascinating and candid, so head over to the GQ site for a read, or even better buy a copy of the magazine and enjoy it in beautiful print. Massive thanks to Ed for letting me invade his home and garden, to Robin...
Jeremy Clarkson is best know for driving fast cars and having controversial opinions. However, recently he’s turned his hand to tilling the soil and become a bit of an ambassador for countryside communities. Rather a u-turn, and one I was eager to exploit when Russ O’Connell asked me to photograph him for the cover of The Sunday Times Magazine. I had photographed Clarkson once before, when he had taken over the magazine with a rather comical set of recipes designed to inspire everyone to eat more healthily. That time I shoved a carrot in his mouth. But what was I to do this time? How do you present such a well known figure in a new and interesting way? Obviously I turned to Jesus for help. You see the thing I love about visual art is that there is a rich history to call upon. Certain types of images represent...
