Action For Pulmonary Fibrosis - Action For Pulmonary Fibrosis - Charlie Clift

Action For Pulmonary Fibrosis

“It’s feels like trying to breathe through clingfilm.” That was how pulmonary fibrosis was described to me by Dan and Stuart, a quote from their dear friend John Wringe who started this project, but sadly died before seeing it completed. This idea was at the heart of film we made for Action For Pulmonary Fibrosis, always wanting to be true to the reality of those living with the disease. Huge thanks to everyone who gave their time, energy and help to bring this together, we did so much with so little thanks to your support. It was a pleasure collaborating with you all. I hope this film helps bring awareness about the disease – and a donation or two if you are able to.If you need help please reach out to the amazing team at Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis. Children In Need – BBC Creative

I’m super proud to have photographed Children In Need’s latest out of home campaign – ‘Heaviest Backpack’. It’s a real honour to support such a brilliant and well loved charity. It’s also such an important campaign – reminding people that so many of life’s burden’s cannot be seen. We captured everything in camera thanks to some stunning custom badges created by the design team. I was eager to bring as much personality to the photographs as possible despite not being able to see any of the children’s faces – so to add individuality to the backpacks we styled them around a different set of interests for each child, customising them just like children do at school, doodles and all. If you spot a billboard out and about do send me a snap. Agency: BBC Creative Client: BBC Children in Need Creative team: Aron Sidhu and Steven Lownes Designers: Veronica Law,...

Poppy Appeal 2021 – Royal British Legion

I photographed and filmed this year’s Poppy Appeal campaign to celebrate 100 years of collecting in the community. Travelling across the country from Plymouth to Sunderland we met 10 incredible people who collect for the Royal British Legion. From ten year old Maisie, in Plymouth, who has been fundraising since she was just four, to Vera, who is 82, and has been a committed collector in Durham for more than seven decades. In fact Vera has raised over £1million in her time! I photographed every collector in their community, from seafronts to stores, and supermarkets to stations. Creating both still and moving portraits you can see them holding their buckets, smiling broadly and always happy to see you. As well as meeting them in their home environment we also invited them all to London. The aim – to create a special group image bringing all ten together, one collector...

Don’t take a picture, give it – Help Portrait at The Passage

Don’t take a photo, give it. That’s the motto of the Help Portrait movement. Founded in the USA but taken up by people around the world it has become a way for the photography community to give back and use their talents to help others. A photoshoot is a wonderful way of paying attention to someone in a very personal way and making them feel significant. It’s also a great fun experience and the memories from it can last a lifetime. The Passage is London’s largest charity helping and guiding homeless and vulnerable people everyday. We wanted to give our time to those people who are often ignored by society and leave them with an experience to remember – as well as some great photos. So we descended on the center in Victoria and set up a full photo studio inside. Every person to step in front of my camera...
